Whether caused by solar flares or CMEs (coronal mass ejections), the effect on weather and biology is same-same. In either case, it takes nearly 2 days for the energetic effects to reach Earth. Biological effects then begin immediately. Related weather effects take several more days to percolate through the cycle of – in the case of solar flares and CMEs – “global warming,” accompanied by intense solar radiation.
