iraq anti-war petition

Note: If you unclear regarding statements made in this Declaration addressing "war powers," please read our related backgrounder.   Most Americans do not realize that the current Iraq invasion was a violation of US Federal Law, as well as a violation of international treaty obligations.

This petition is meant to empower a movement aimed at preventing additional "Pre-emptive wars" by the United States, launched against Iran or any other nation, and to help lead to the permanent abolition of war as a means of settling disputes between nations. Ratified by the Board of Directors of the United Nations Association, San Diego chapter, August, 2005.

iraq war declaration that the current administration of the United States violated our society's ratification of the UN Charter and US Federal Law (US Constitution, Article VI) by bypassing the Security Council while proclaiming an unprecedented right to "pre-emptively attack" any nation claimed to constitute a threat (vis Iraq), without that threat meeting reasonable self-defense standards;

anti-war petition that the bypassing of such laws and principles has led to untold suffering, the death of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians and thousands of US military personnel, the tragic displacement of several million Iraqi refugees and the senseless drain of vast resources needed for constructive purposes;

geneva violations petition to witness "threat evidence" being produced regarding Iran - contradicting the findings of our own intelligence agencies and European allies - thus threatening further needless warfare, which would again produce major suffering while building yet larger debts;

universal declaration of human rights

I.    Demand that our own government, the current US administration, cease all movement toward further pre-emptive wars;

II.    Urge our national political leaders to redirect our national treasure - being wasted upon speculative wars and drained via war-profiteering - toward humane and constructive uses, including urgent humanitarian needs both at home and abroad;

III.   Call upon the Attorney General of our nation and the magistrates of the International Criminal Court to proceed with the prosecution of individuals that have violated core War Crimes statutes, to assist our society in re-establishing principles of civilized conduct.

III.   We, the Undersigned, demand an end to unjust and illegal behavior being committed "In Our Name" and - as natural sovereigns, those by whose consensus our government exists - demand the creation of a just and humane world instead; the creation of a world without war, made possible by the creation of greater political and economic justice at home and abroad.

Note: This Petition has been designed to function as a statement, by American citizens, to our own government.  Therefore, we ask whether or not each signer is a US citizen.  Citizens of other nations are welcome to sign, but will be considered Endorsers versus Signatories (indicated by an asterisk beside name, below). Country will only appear alongside names if State is not entered (ie: living outside the United States).  This petition will be sent to key political and media leaders once 3,000 signatures are collected, and recirculated periodically thereafter.
